Tyler Mahard

Hi, I'm Tyler Mahard. I'm a singer-songwriter based in New Haven, Connecticut. When I perform live, I play acoustic guitar and sing, sometimes with harmonica. I like playing my original songs, but also love to share my interpretations of songs by some of my favorite artists: Neil Young, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, and others. The songs I write blend elements of folk, rock, and blues. My lyrics are varied, but themes of nature and humankind's relationship with the rest of life on earth are frequent.

I've been in a number of bands and acoustic duos over the years as a drummer, guitarist, and singer. After gigging frequently with an acoustic duo over the past five years, I'm now focused on performing as a solo artist. Recordings of my songs are homemade and "organic" in that they don't use any type of pitch or timing correction. Though I make a number of instrumental recordings, songs that I perform live include vocals.
