Yesterday I completed the fourth survey at the terrapin road mortality hotspot in Fairifeld County. I observed at least three diamondback terrapins swimming around in the saltmarsh adjacent to the road. There is no evidence of nesting activity yet.

The crowdfunding campaign launch date has been put on hold to allow time to better coordinate with other terrapin research efforts in Connecticut.

Here is one of the terrapins I observed yesterday, curiously watching me with its head poking out of the water. You can click on the photo to enlarge it and see the diagnostic white beak.
