Bio

I started taking drum lessons around age nine and took an interest in rock music during my early teens. During high school, I taught myself how to play guitar and began experimenting with writing and recording original material. I also played snare drum in my high school marching band, and joined a rock band called Tempest Edge. During college, my songwriting and guitar playing really took off. I started performing at open mics here and there and continued to record my own material. Still drumming for Tempest Edge, I also joined a band called In Spades as their lead guitarist. With some members from that band, I went on to join the rock ensemble Kingfisher, in which I played lead guitar and sang some of the time. This band ended when I moved to New Hampshire to attend graduate school, but my songwriting continued. During this time, I performed at open mics occasionally and began performing professionally with two different acoustic duos. While in New Hampshire I recorded an instrumental album, Tyler Mahard & The Mystery Band, and the single Donald. I then returned to Connecticut and pursued a career as a solo artist. In doing this, I met and fell in love with my partner and formed the acoustic duo Noelle & Tyler. We continue to perform as a duo, and I continue to write and record music as a solo artist. In 2021 I released the self-produced EP, Songs from the Living Room Closet.
